Lions Secure 30-Point Victory Against Biola Eagles

LOS ANGELES - Three Lions finished in double digits in LMU's big victory against the Biola Eagles, 66-36. This was LMU's first win of the season and the second time a Lions finished with a double-double. Cynthia Ezeja had an amazing performance, finishing the game with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

"We had outstanding performances tonight, with super efficient minutes by Cynthia [Ezeja]," said Coach Hughes. "Twelve minutes and eight seconds and to have 11 rebounds and 13 points; we expect that from her and her position. Getting her back in her groove was something we wanted tonight, and we did. We saw a great production from her."

Nicole Rodriguez was also a standout for LMU and finished with 14 points on 4-9 shooting to go with three rebounds and three assists.

"That ball going in for her [Rodriguez] was huge and crucial for our program," explained Hughes.

The Lions excelled in rebounding, securing 30 offensive rebounds and 62 throughout the night.

In the opening quarter, Amaya Oliver's layup pushed LMU to a two-point lead, setting the tone for the game. Despite the Eagles scoring once under the seven-minute mark, the Lions' defense held firm until only 1:15 remained in the quarter. The Lions concluded the quarter with a 15-10 advantage.

The second quarter saw Da'Ja Hamilton starting strong with a putback and a decisive three-pointer, giving the Lions a 10-point lead. LMU's forceful defense kept Biola from scoring until the six-minute mark, and a significant three-pointer by Rodriguez extended the lead to 17 points, making it 25-10. The Lions entered halftime with a commanding 20-point lead, leading 39-19.

In the third quarter, the Lions dominated the Eagles with a 26-point lead, marking the largest margin of the game. However, in the fourth quarter, a successful layup by Ezeja extended their lead to a whopping 30 points. The final quarter also witnessed all five freshmen joining the action, and Ella Wedin ended the game with the last basket, concluding the match at 69-39.

Alexis Mark nearly secured a double-double, contributing nine points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Meanwhile, Hamilton concluded the game with a total of 11 points.
