Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Swan Shines in Debut

LOS ANGELES – The LMU men's soccer team dropped their final regular season match to Saint Mary's 1-0 on Saturday night in front of a big crowd at Sullivan Field.

The Lions celebrated nine of their seniors prior to the match in their final regular-season home match at Sullivan Field. Eli Armstrong, Jovan Prado, Callum Stretch, Bradyn Knutson, Carson Kendall, Aiden Spagnoli, Christian Ortiz, Stefan Reuter, and Ryan Kingsford all walked with their families and got ovations from the Lion faithful.

Ryan Swan made his Lions debut in goal and showed off why head coach Kyle Schmid has confidence in all three of his keepers. Swan made his first stop on a back post volley coming off a corner in the 10th minute. A rocket at the back post but Swan caught it easily. He also showed off his acrobatic skills, pushing a long-range effort away from goal to force a corner as the game progressed. He ended the match with seven saves.

Tyger Smalls and Ale Fuentesal were wonders on the ball today, using dizzying runs to try and create chances against the Saint Mary's backline.

LMU got a dangerous chance from freshman Nacho Macias in the 89th minute, inches away from a tie game. Macias volleyed after a half-clearance from the Gaels and flashed across the face of goal, agonizingly wide.

With the loss, the Lions drop to 2-3-2 in WCC play and will await their fate as the NCAA Tournament selection is on Monday, November 13.
