LOS ANGELES – Lewis Clutton and the Lions once again scored in the opening five minutes of the match and LMU pulled off a 1-0 win at UCLA on Saturday night. Â
Â
Clutton opened the scoring with his third strike of the season. The Brits are well-represented on the team scoreboard, with
Tyger Smalls and Clutton tied with three goals apiece and
Ryan Kingsford leading the charge with four goals. Â
Â
Massimo Oedekoven Pomponi notched another clean sheet between the posts for LMU, it was his fourth of the season. He has only allowed one goal from the run of play in the last six games. Â
Â
The Lions were without a pair of defensive starters, but Carl Olsen and Braden Fidelak stepped into central defensive roles and played flawless defensive soccer. Â
Â
Kingsford and Smalls were the other Lions to register shots. Smalls had three shots with two on target, Kingsford registered two and one respectively.Â
Â
The Lions finish the nonconference portion of the season with a 3-0-1 record against "Power 5" competition, with victories over Virginia, Oregon State and UCLA and a draw with Michigan. Even more impressive, all of those matches took place on the road.Â
