LOS ANGELES – The Lions took down the #22 UCLA Bruins tonight in a 3-0 sweep.

The first set started off in the Lions favor. A kill by
Kari Geissberger put the Lions on the board putting LMU up, 1-0. An error attack from UCLA, plus a kill from
Audrey Klemp, would give LMU the lead, 3-0.

Back-to-back kills from UCLA put the Bruins one point behind the Lions, 3-4. Later in the match, the Bruins went on a six unanswered point streak to gain the lead, 14-10.

LMU regained the lead and had a two-point advantage over UCLA thanks to blocks from
Phoebe Awoleye and Geissberger bringing the score to, 16-14.Â

Both teams had multiple runs towards the end of the set, but it was LMU who would come out victorious this set, 26-24.

During the second set, the Lions started the match with four unanswered point giving them the lead, 4-0. A kill by
Isabella Bareford would extend the Lions lead to 5-0.

UCLA eventually got on the board with a kill bringing the score to, 1-5.  The Bruins went on a three-point streak, making the match a five-point game, but still trailed the Lions, 6-10.

A kill by Geissberger, with an assist from Bareford, would extend the Lions lead to, 15-8. LMU would go on another streak increasing the lead to, 18-8.

UCLA tried to catch up to LMU going on a 6-0 run coming with three points of the Lions, 19-22.Â

The Lions would eventually win the set, 25-20.

The third set was a close one. UCLA scored first to open the match. Both the Lions and Bruins went back and forth scoring no more than one point, but it was UCLA who would eventually take the lead, 5-2.

Awoleye, Klemp and Bareford all teamed up for a block putting the Lions only two behind the Bruins, 5-3.

LMU was able to tie up the score, 9-9, thanks to numerous attack errors by UCLA. The Lions went on three 2-0 runs giving them the lead, 16-14.

UCLA had no answer for LMU. A block by
Jacquelyn Moore and Klemp extended the lead to, 20-16. A kill by
Rose Booth, with an assist from
Sam Hastings, brought the score to, 22-17.

Ultimately, it was LMU who would come with the win, 25-19, and sweeping the UCLA Bruins.
