Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. – The LMU Lions competed against the second-ranked Nebraska Huskers on the first day of the Husker Invitational.
Nebraska scored first to open the match. The Huskers held the lead until a kill by
Jacquelyn Moore tied the set at 2-2. Nebraska went on a 3-0 run to retake the lead, 5-2. LMU never got the momentum going, despite scoring here and there, but couldn't take a lead. Nebraska ended up winning the set, 25-17.
The second set started off the same way, with LMU and Nebraska going back and forth until a kill by
Rose Booth shifted the energy. The Lions went on a 3-0 run and took the lead to make the score, 7-5.
The Lions held the lead until the Huskers went on a streak of eight unanswered points to jump ahead, 15-9. Two service errors by Nebraska brought LMU within four points to trail, 15-11. The Huskers extended their lead by as many as eight points before eventually winning set two, 25-16.
The third set started great for LMU. The Lions scored the first four of the set points before Nebraska finally got on the board.
Kari Geissberger extended LMU's lead to 9-6 with a kill. Nebraska responded with a few kills of their own, paired with a few service errors from LMU, to tie the score up at 10-10.
Nebraska scored three points in a row to take a 19-15 lead over LMU. The Huskers then went on another five unanswered point streak to win the set, 25-17, and win the game, 3-0.
The Lions will take on the Ole Miss Rebels on Friday afternoon, to close out the Husker Invitational.
