LOS ANGELES – For the third time in program history, the LMU softball team has been selected to the NCAA Tournament. After earning the West Coast Conference's automatic bid on Saturday, the Lions heard their name called on Sunday and will stay in Los Angeles for Regionals.
The Lions will be in the Regional along with #5 UCLA, Ole Miss, and Grand Canyon. LMU will open against Ole Miss on Friday at 4:30 PM, with the Bruins and Lopes to follow.
LMU is 1-2 all-time against Mississippi. The Lions defeated the Rebels in 2009, in Cathedral City.
This is LMU's third Regional Appearance, and third time playing in UCLA's Regional. The Lions knocked out the Bruins in 2007 with a 5-3 win.
Grand Canyon faced the Lions six times over two seasons in 2015 and 2016.
