SAN DIEGO– The Loyola Marymount University softball team (34-14) defeated the San Diego     Toreros, 7-4, to sweep their fourth straight WCC series, improving to 11-1 in the conference.

The Lions got off to a solid start Sunday morning, as lead-off batter Sydney Poole hit a single to start the game in the top of the first inning. This momentum saw a pair of sac-flies by Georgia Blair, and Alyssa Daniell who helped LMU add more to the scoreboard by allowing Megan Dedrick and Sydney Poole to run past home plate. 

Later in the same inning, Jasmine Sofowora added to this LMU spell after a Val Pero single. Andrea Gonzalez sealed the inning with an RBI double with Val Pero, and Payton Angulo adding to the score.

The Lions would return in the top of the second inning making more noise, as Morgan DeBord zoomed past the home plate after a Georgia Blair single up the middle to earn her twenty eighth RBI of the season. 

The biggest lead started off early and would prove this was enough to beat the Toreros.

On the defensive end, the Lions had Logan Caymol claim the winning pitcher slot as she threw 48 balls, 24 strikes, and 2 strike outs. The Lions finished the game with eleven total hits to the Toreros, nine hits. 

The Lions come back home to Smith Field for a three-game WCC series starting with a double header on Friday, May 13th at 12:00 p.m. PST, followed by game two at 2:00 p.m. PST. They will then play game three on Saturday, May 14th at 12:00 p.m. PST.
