SANTA CLARA- The No. 22 ranked Loyola Marymount University women's tennis team (17-2) defeated the Santa Clara Broncos, 5-2, closing out the regular season with a eight-game win streak in West Coast Conference Play.

Ulyana Shirokova earned victories to take the 1-0 lead for the Lions at positions 1 and 3.

In Singles, #74 ranked Veronika Miroschnichenko, Wiktoria Rukowska, and
Isabella Tcherkes-Zade clinched the victory for the Lions on courts 1,3 and 5 to close out on their eighth straight West Coast Conference victory, and ninth straight victory all together.

The Lions finished with a record-breaking season, landing the No. 17 spot at one point in the season, making it the highest ranking in program history. They went 8-1 in the WCC, 3-1 against the Pac-12, 4-0 against the Big West, and 1-0 against the Ivy League.

LMU lost to just two teams which were No. 17 ranked USC and No. 6 ranked Pepperdine, while upsetting No. 4 UCLA. In addition, #74 Veronika Miroschnichenko has earned two WCC Singles Player of the Week and defeated No. 53 Solymar Colling from San Diego.
Eva Marie Voracek and Ulyana Shirokoa won two WCC Doubles Team of the Week honors as well.

Next up: The Lions will travel to Claremont, Calif. for the WCC Championships from Apr.28-Apr.30, looking to bring home the title.
