SAN DIEGO -- The Loyola Marymount University Lions (11-22-1,8-6 WCC) were caught in a stalemate on Saturday afternoon as a late inning run by the Toreros proved to be the difference in the 0-1 setback.
The Lions turned to Diego Barrera for the Saturday start who produced 8.1 innings worth of work and did not allow a hit through the first six innings. He struck out three Torero batters and threw 91 pitches.
LMU's offense had an early opportunity when Benny Casillas singled to center field but could not produce a run. The most action from LMU came in the third inning after two hits but the Lions were unsuccessful in scoring at home plate.
LMU and USD will play tomorrow afternoon as the first pitch from San Diego is slated for 1:00 p.m.
