LOS ANGELES- The Loyola Marymount University softball team (25-13) remains on the road in West Coast Conference (WCC) play, traveling to Moraga, Calif. to face the Saint Mary's Gaels in a three-game game series.
The Lions are fresh off a 2-1 series win over the BYU Cougars, which is the first time since the 2015 season the Lions were able to win the competitive WCC series.
During the series, standout freshman
Jasmine Sofowora continued earning her stripes, finishing with a .750 avg, hitting her second career homerun while performing perfect at the plate in two of those three games.
She won WCC Player of the Week, which she is the first Freshman on the team to earn weekly honors this season.

Jenna Perez was also a big factor in the Lions defeat the Cougars, holding them to just four hits in 14.2 innings of the three-game series.
The Lions have swept WCC honors for two weeks and has been selected in five total weeks, as

Georgia Blair, and Jasmine Sofowora have all been honored due to excellent performances. Perez has earned four WCC Pitcher of the Week honors this season.
The Lions currently hold a team batting average of .300, with 299 hits, 171 RBIs, and 196 runs scored. They've held their opponents to a .234 avg. at the plate, while producing a total of 243 strikeouts total.
The Lions will face the Gaels in the three-game series beginning on Apr. 15-16 in Moraga, Calif.
The last meeting between the Lions and the Gaels was May 14-15, 2021, when the Lions took the WCC series 2-1.
Saint Mary's is currently 13-20 overall and 1-2 in the conference, coming off a 2-1 conference series loss to the San Diego Torreros. At the plate, the team combines for a .235 avg. while holding their opponents to a .266 avg.
The match will be held at Cottrell Field in Moraga, Calif. with the first pitch set for tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. PST, with game two to follow at 2:30 p.m. PST.
