LOS ANGELES- The Loyola Marymount University softball team (11-10) will host the Utah Utes softball team and the Princeton Tigers softball team for a two-day double header.
The Lions just returned from the Judi Garman Classic, where they finished the tournament with a 4-0 upset victory of No. 23 ranked Arizona State Sun Devils.
Jenna Perez pitched lights out once again. collecting 27 total strikeouts and only allowing 3 runs in 16.0 innings pitched the entire weekend. She recorded a 0.88 ERA and earned one win and one save. Perez earned WCC Pitcher of the Week honors.
Andrea Gonzales was a key player this past weekend as she finished with six hits, four RBIs and two runs, while snagging 13 total catches, producing five putouts, and helping her team with 8 total assists.
Val Pero was able amazing at the plate in the Judi Garman Classic, finishing with five hits, six RBIs, while scoring one run.
The first double header will be on Tuesday, Mar. 8 against the Utah Utes at 11:00 am PST, followed by the second game between the two teams at 1:30 p.m. The Lions will return to Smith Field the following day for another double header with the Princeton Tiger on Wednesday, Mar. 9 at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 pm PST.
The Utah Utes softball team has a record of 15-6. The last meeting between the two teams was on Feb. 15, 2018, where the Lions defeated the Utes, 4-1.
The Princeton Tigers softball team is currently 1-4 on the season. The last between two teams was Mar. 16, 2016, where the Lions defeated the Tiger, 5-4.
