Box Score LOS ANGELES– The Loyola Marymount University softball team (21-12) defeated the Cal Baptist Lancers in combined no hitter fashion, 2-0, to move to 22-12 on the season ahead of conference play.
 
In the first inning, the Lions and Lancers were able to get three outs before a runner could cross the plate. The Lancers did land a runner on base but would end up being thrown out at third base while trying to still on a dirt ball.

The first hit of the game would not come until the bottom of the third inning when Sydney Poole hit a grounder to the first baseman, beating out the throw.
 
In the bottom of the fourth inning with bases loaded for the Lions, the Lancers were able to end of inning with no runs, as the score remained, 0-0.
 
The Lions continued their no hitter defensive performance through the first five innings, allowing no hits from the Lancers.
 
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Morgan DeBord would bomb an RBI double to right center field, bringing in Sydney Poole for the Lions their first run off the game. The very next batter, Georgia Blair would follow up with a solo home run to increase the lead, 2-0.

With Jenna Perez on the mound the Lions did not plan to give up any hits at all, and that is exactly what occurred.

The Lions finished the game with five total hits to the Lancers, zero hits. Georgia Blair finished 2-2 at the plate, hitting her sixth home run this season. Morgan DeBord went 1-2 at the plate, hitting an RBI double.

Jenna Perez moves to 9-5, pitching 3.0 innings while allowing no hits and no runs with five strikeouts.  Jessica Hubbard also appeared in the circle for the Lions, pitching 4.0 innings while also allowing no hits, no runs, and three strikeouts.
 
The Lions will travel to Fresno State next Wednesday, Mar. 30 with the first pitch set for 6:00 p.m. PST.
