LOS ANGELES- The Loyola Marymount University softball team (21-12) will host the final of nine game stretch at Smith Field against the Cal Baptist Lancers on Tuesday, Mar. 22. This also marks the Lions last home game ahead of West Coast Conference play.
The Lions sparked an 11-game win streak, which included a 4-0 upset over No. 23 ranked Arizona State at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, Calif.. They currently hold a team batting average of .295, with 257 hits, 153 RBIs, 176 runs scored, and 23 total home runs.
In the previous double header with the South Dakota Jackrabbits, the Lions fell short, losing both matches, one in extra innings. In fact, history took place in the second game as it marked the first home softball night game in school history.
The Lions have swept WCC honors for two weeks and has been selected in four straight weeks, as
Morgan DeBord,
Jenna Perez, and
Georgia Blair have all been honored due to excellent performances.
Morgan DeBord has been a staple for the Lions offense, as she leads the team with 35 hits and 23 RBIs, while hitting three home runs and a grand slam. She is also second on the team with 26 runs and top three overall at the plate with a .337 avg.
Jenna Perez has been lights out in the circle, currently holding the No.10 spot in the nation for strikeouts, while also compiling three straight WCC Pitcher of the Week honors. Jenna has been producing tremendously for the Lions with a 1.58 ERA, 120 strikeouts, and an 8-5 overall record.
Georgia Blair, a transfer from Central Florida, has really stepped up for the Lions as a leader on the team with five home runs and second at the plate with a .342 avg. Blair recently earned WCC Player of the Week as she's also top three on the team in total hits.
The Lions are a super talented team, as the names mention are just some of the leaders on this dynamic action-packed roster.
Allysa Daniell is another standout player, who currently leads the team with a .345 avg.
Sydney Poole, the lead off right fielder, has also been a huge part of the Lions success, leading the team with 28 runs scored and a .327 avg. with over 100 at bats.
Veterans such as
Andrea Gonzalez,
Megan Dedrick,
Peyton Angulo and
Val Pero have also been super consistent for this exciting LMU team. You even see flashes of great plays from Freshmen

Jessica Hubbard, to show what the future holds for the Lions.
The Lions will face the Cal Baptist Lancers, an 18-15 team with a notable win over No. 24 ranked BYU. The last meeting between the Lions and the Lancers was on Mar. 31, 2021, as LMU took the victory, 3-0.
The match will be held Tuesday, Mar. 22 at Smith Field, with the first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. PST.
