Box Score 1 LOS ANGELES – LMU women's water polo completed an unbeaten weekend on Saturday with an 11-4 win over Biola.
The Lions took a 5-0 lead after one period and a 7-0 lead at intermission.
Five different Lions scored in the first period.
Mollie Williams opened the scoring less than 40 seconds into the game.
Alena Sanchez followed at the 5:27 mark and
Marialena Seletopoulou scored about a minute later.
Ruth Arino Ruiz made it 4-0 with 3:05 to play and
Mei Vilanova converted a powerplay goal at the 1:59 mark.
Isabella Barajas scored the first goal of the second quarter with 1:50 on the clock. Arino Ruiz scored on LMU's next possession and LMU extended the lead to 7-0.
Biola got on the board to open the third before Seletopoulou,
Yanah Gerber, and Sanchez combined for the next three goals.
The Lions took a double-digit lead on
Taylor Enright's goal with 4:16 to play in the fourth quarter. The Eagles ended the game with the final three in a row.
Madison Davis made six saves to earn the win.
Talia Herbermann came in late in the fourth quarter to close the game in goal.
The focus now shifts to GCC action as LMU hosts San Diego State on Saturday in the conference opener. The game will begin at 11:00 AM from Burns Aquatics Center.
