LOS ANGELES – LMU men's basketball will get a second shot at BYU this week on national television. Following the first matchup this season between the two programs, a one-point overtime finish, the Lions and Cougars will battle it out again on Thursday in Provo. The game will tip at 8:00 PM MTN (7:00 PM PST) and air on CBS Sports Network.
The Lions will look to replicate the early success that the team experienced in the Feb. 10
th first meeting. LMU held a 12-point lead after shooting 70.37 percent (19-for-27) in the first half. The Lions also knocked down seven of 10 threes in the first half to build up the double-digit lead over the Cougars. The game turned in the second half, but ever after trailing, LMU clawed back to force overtime before a last second whistle gave BYU free throws and the go-ahead points. All five starters scored in double digits in that first meeting, with the starting five accounting for 76 of the team's 82 points.
This is the final regular season road game of the year for the Lions. After going 3-1 away from home in the non-conference, this will be the last chance for this year's LMU team to pick up a road win in conference play. LMU last win in the Marriott Center came in January 2012.
Both teams will be looking for momentum heading into this final week of the season. BYU is going for their 20
th win, while LMU wants to hit double-digits.
The broadcast will be analytics and stats focused as one of the network's Beyond The Box Score telecasts. The emphasis will be on advanced analytics and data that the two teams use in their programs. Both these teams were featured in last year's version of the special broadcast as well.
The game will also stream on the CBS Sports Network. In addition to the web stream, KXLU 88.9 will broadcast the audio of the game on radio.
