LOS ANGELES – The calendar has turned to February and LMU men's basketball will face a new opponent this week. For the first time this season, LMU will play Santa Clara Thursday night on Stadium. The game will tip off at 6:00 pm.
The Broncos have won three of four games, with their only defeat during that stretch being a one-possession loss to San Francisco. The Lions look to stop that hot streak while building momentum of their own and ending this current slide.
The two teams split the season series last season, with each team winning on the other's court. Prior to last year's results, the Lions won the previous four meetings dating back to the 2017-18 season.
Both games in 2020-21 were decided by three points, with
Eli Scott hitting the go-ahead jumper at the Leavey Center in the last matchup. Scott not only hit the game-winner but scored 37 points in the win on his way to be named West Coast Conference Player of the Week the following Monday.
Santa Clara leads the conference and ranks 40
th in the country in fewest fouls committed. The Broncos foul 14.5 times per game. The only other category the Broncos lead the WCC in is turnovers per game at 11.8.
In addition to the WCC Network broadcast, KXLU 88.9 will broadcast the audio of the game on radio.
