Lions Head North to Face Pacific for First Time this Season

LOS ANGELES - LMU men's basketball will play Pacific for the first time this season on Saturday in Stockton. The Lions have played each of the other eight West Coast Conference schools at least once before, but because this is a scheduled date from the postponed contest on Jan. 8, it is the first matchup between the two programs.

Each side will look to pick up their third league win of the season on Saturday night and battle for positioning in what will likely have an impact in the final tournament seedings for the WCC Championships. The schools split the season series in Coach Stan Johnson's first season in 2020-21, with each team holding home court and winning on their own campus.

Each side will have three players entering the game averaging double-digit points, but nobody on Pacific averages more than 11.5 points per game this season. Both Eli Scott and Joe Quintana average above that mark at 17.1 and 12.0 ppg, respectively.

Scott's 30-point performance on Thursday night pushed him over the 1,900-career point plateau. Scott is just the eighth Lion in program history to score at least 1,900 over a career. With three regular season games and the WCC Tournament still to play, Scott will look to hit a new milestone of 2,000 career points, a feat only Hank Gathers, Terrell Lowery, Antony Ireland, Forrest McKenzie, and Bo Kimble have done in an LMU uniform.

The two programs will become familiar with one another rather quickly as the two will close the regular season at Gersten Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 24. The final game on the schedule before the teams head to Las Vegas for the WCC Championships will begin with a senior day ceremony to honor LMU's senior class.

The game will stream on the WCC Network. In addition to the web stream, KXLU 88.9 will broadcast the audio of the game on radio.
