LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University softball team will head to Tucson, Ariz. to compete in the 2022 Hillenbrand Invitational Tournament, in a five-game series on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The Lions head into this weekend's games coming off a 2-4 weekend, where the team won two straight home games, beating Mississippi State and Nevada. LMU had four tough losses against #1 Oklahoma, #16 Oregon, Mississippi State, and UC San Diego.
The Lions came off an amazing pitching performance by
Jenna Perez, as she produced 11 strikeouts on 126 pitches, 3 base on balls, and a 3.00 ERA against Nevada. LMU also did well at the plate against in that game, as
Alyssa Daniell and
Peyton Angulo both hit a home run to bring in 5 total RBIs.
The Lions will play No. 20 ranked Kentucky, No. 15 ranked Arizona, Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara throughout the tournament.
The Lions will play their first game at 12:00 PM PST against #20 Kentucky in Tucson, Ariz. The second game will begin at 7:00 PM PST against Long Beach State. Saturday, Feb 19. The Lions will face UC Santa Barbara at 10:00 AM PST and #15 Arizona at 3:00 PM PST. The Lions will be back on the field on Sunday at noon to conclude the series with a second match against UC Santa Barbara.
