Lions Host Student Appreciation Day Game Against Broncos

LOS ANGELES - LMU men's basketball returns to the court this Thursday to host Santa Clara in the Student Appreciation Day game, officially sponsored by University Credit Union. The game will tip at 7:00 PM from Gersten Pavilion.

This will be the second matchup with between the Lions and Broncos this season. The two programs met to open this month in Santa Clara on Feb. 3. LMU's two leading scorers were Joe Quintana, who hit three threes in the game, and Keli Leaupepe. Both players scored 14 points in defeat.

In Coach Stan Johnson first season in 2020-21, LMU lost the first game against the Broncos and then turned it around in the second meeting to split the season series. In LMU's win last February between the two teams, Eli Scott scored 37 points on 15 made field goals including the game-winning shot with 14 seconds to play.

This year's Lions are looking for the first win of February and third home conference win of the year. Santa Clara had won four straight and six of seven before last Saturday's loss to San Francisco. A key to this season's successes for the Broncos has been the team's top-15 field goal percentage. Santa Clara is shooting the ball at a 48.5 percent clip.

The game will stream on the WCC Network. In addition to the web stream, KXLU 88.9 will broadcast the audio of the game on radio.
