LOS ANGELES – The LMU defense came out on a mission Saturday night in Gersten Pavilion. The Lions held Nevada to 3-for-22 shooting in the second half to change a tie score into a 64-52 win.
Neither team held a lead greater than four in the first half, with both teams hitting five threes.
Cam Shelton scored 17 of LMU's 33 first half points. Shelton hit 7-of-13 shots in the opening half and lead the team with four first half rebounds.
Michael Graham tied the game at 33-all with a walk-off put back layup on LMU's final possession of the half.
The Lions used a 21-5 run over 11 minutes in the second half to completely turn the course of the game. Even with two of Nevada's three field goals coming in the run, the Lions turned a 37-37 game into a 16-point lead.
Michael Graham had back-to-back buckets including a two-handed dunk off a pick-and-roll.
Rick Issanza followed with a layup on the offensive end with his only shot of the game, but defensively recorded a season-high three blocks to add to the defensive stymie.
Shelton finished with 24 points and seven rebounds, even playing through foul trouble in the entire second half.
Keli Leaupepe led the team with eight rebounds and added 10 points.
Justin Ahrens hit a pair of threes and
Jalin Anderson added nine points while leading the team with five assists.
The Lions added 15 second chance points, and outrebounded the Wolf Pack, 42-26.
LMU will be away from home next week with games at Grand Canyon and then in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay against Utah State.
