Men's Tennis Fall Update

LOS ANGELES – The LMU men's tennis team is in the midst of their fall singles season. This page will be updated to reflect how they fared in each tournament. 
 
UCSB Invite  
The Lions fared very well in the UCSB Invite hosted by UC Santa Barbara, with both a singles and doubles title being brought back to the bluff.  
 
Sophomore Arthur Pantino had a hand in both victories, posting a straight sets (6-4, 6-1) victory in the final of the "B Flight" over Gerogio Samaha of New Mexico. He also teamed up with fellow countryman John Bryan Otico to take the "B Flight" doubles title over a team from Cal Poly. 
 
The team of Emin Torlic and Austin DiGiulio competed in the "A Flight," advancing in the first round with an 8-7 victory before falling in the semifinal.  
 
ITA Southwest Regional 
The Lions sent a plethora of competitors to Malibu, Calif. To represent LMU in the ITA Southwest Regional hosted by Pepperdine. 
 
John Bryan Otico opened up the proceedings with a straight sets victory over Julian DeSousa of UC Santa Barbara 6-2, 6-2. He was defeated by the first seed Stefan Dostanic of USC in the second round. 
 
Toky Ranaivo fared similarly, coming from behind to defeat Dominique Rolland of Arizona in a tiebreaker 0-6, 6-4, 7-6 before falling in the second round to 14th seeded Noah Berry of Cal Poly. 
 
Alvaro Gonzalez fell to Robert Shelton of host Pepperdine 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of competition. 
 
Arthur Pantino also lost, falling to Azuma Visaya 6-4, 6-0 in the first round. 
 
Jack Kramer Invite 
Toky Ranaivo competed in the Jack Kramer Invite held in Rolling Hills Estates, Calif. From Nov. 4 to Nov. 6. Ranaivo defeated Visaya in the opening round before a straight-set victory over Aaron Eliscu of Cal Poly and a three-set victory over WCC foe Marvin Schaber of San Diego in the quarterfinals. Ranaivo fell to Johannes Seeman of San Diego State in the semifinals. 
 
The final fall invitational will be at home at the LMU Invite occuring Nov. 11 to Nov. 13.
