LOS ANGELES – The LMU Lions lost to the California Golden Bears, 68-49, on Day 1 of the LMU Thanksgiving Classic.

Khari Clark and
Amaya Oliver. Two made free throws by
Alexis Mark put the Lions up by four which would be their biggest lead of the game.
The Lions started to struggle in the middle of the quarter not being able to make a basket to get past the Golden Bears. At the 4:12 mark, California went on a 4-0 run to lead the Lions by five, 14-9.
In the second quarter California was first to get up on the board. The Lions wouldn't score until 6:42 when
Khari Clark hit a jumper from
Ariel Johnson. The Lions started to gain momentum at the end of the quarter making three back-to-back threes from
Nicole Rodriguez and
Se'Quoia Allmond; coming within five of the Golden Bears. Allmond led the second quarter shooting 3-6 from the field.
The third quarter California went on a 3-0 run, but LMU followed with a 2-0 run for themselves. The Lions tried to keep the game close by staying within 10 points of the Golden Bears. With 5:12 left in the quarter, Johnson made a jumper followed by two free throws that put the Lions a few points closer to the Golden Bears. Right before the 2-minute warning, LMU started to gain spunk when Mark got a steal and hit a three pointer and
Destiny Samuel followed with a layup.
