Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lions Win Fourth Straight

LOS ANGELES – Dylan Shockey put in a backbreaking goal in the 89th minute and the LMU men's soccer team prevailed over the visiting Pacific Tigers 1-0 on Saturday evening at Sullivan Field.

The Lions and Tigers fought to what was looking like a stalemate until Shockey and Noel Caliskan played a nice combination play that led to a shot by Shockey. The shot ricocheted off a Pacific defender and into the net for the game's only goal.

Mitchell Wilson collected four saves in the victory, recording his third clean sheet in his last four matches. Wilson is 39th nationally in average goals against and 32nd nationally in save percentage. The .795 save percentage is also tied for tops in the WCC.

Shockey, a preseason all-WCC defender, has shown offensive prowess this season. He has collected a pair of goals to go along with four assists and is second on the team in total points.

Derek Goodman was hunting for his second goal of the season in the 78th minute. He found some space on the right side and rocketed a right-footed shot that was destined for the top corner. The Pacific keep made an otherworldly diving stop to preserve the tie and set up Shockey's heroics.

Shockey dribbled towards the Pacific net before laying off to Caliskan on the wing. Caliskan played it right back to Shockey with a nicely weighted through ball and Shockey was in on net. Shockey set himself up and drove a low shot that hit a defender's leg and then deflected into the net. The Lions sideline erupted and celebrated with Shockey on the field.

The last minute and a half got a little nervy, but Pacific's last shot fell wide and the Lions remained unbeaten in conference play.
