Game Recap: Men's Water Polo |

Carrasco Scores Eight Goals to Move Lions to 5-0 in Conference

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – 11th-ranked LMU men's water polo controlled the game from the start to take down Air Force on Saturday. The Lions scored the game's first eight goals to take down the Falcons, 19-6, and move to 5-0 in the Western Water Polo Association.
 
David Carrasco's big day began with the game's first three goals over the first five minutes of play. Augie Renzederr and Jonny Rimlinger scored on back-to-back possessions before Carrasco converted on the power play with 21 seconds remaining to increase the lead to 6-0.
 
Kade Margain and Alex Marlow extended the lead to 8-0 less than a minute and a half into the second quarter. Air Force's only goal of the first half came at the 4:26 mark. Carrasco extended the lead to 9-1, with Richie Rimlinger and Margain following suit with goals. Carrasco scored his sixth goal of the half with just a second on the clock to take LMU into intermission with a 12-1 lead.
 
Goals seven and eight for Carrasco came in the opening minutes of the third quarter. The two teams traded off the next four goals with Aden Mina and Joseph Cavazos scoring for the Lions. Jonny RImlinger put the Lions up 17-3 to end the third period.
 
The Falcons scored three goals in the final period. Margain added two more goals in the final period to close out the game.
 
LMU's defense kept Air Force out of the cage on powerplay situations. The Falcons finished the game 0-for-6 with a man advantage. The Lions were 3-for-5 with an extra player.
 
The 19 goals for the Lions came on 30 shots for a .633 shooting percentage. Air Force was held to the six goals on 27 shots.
 
Stelios Dalmaras made six saves and Can Cagler made three of his own.

The Lions return to action on Thursday with a non-conference home game against Princeton.
