Box Score LOS ANGELES -- The Loyola Marymount University men's tennis team opened its 2021-22 season against UC Davis at the LMU Tennis Center on Saturday. Courts 2 and 3 were both victorious in doubles play, leading them to a 1-0 start.
 
Singles started off with LMU's John Bryan Otico winning on Court #2, followed by a loss on Court 5, giving the Lions a 2-1 lead.
 
Dane Esses would defeat Andras Necz on Court 4 to give the Lions the boost they needed to finish the day strong. Things would then get pretty hectic at court 1 with a tie-breaker between Andrei Volgin and Rana-Roop Bhullar.
 
However, the Lions would pull out the 5-2 victory with final wins at court 6 and 3 by Arthur Pantino and Jose Dominguez Alonso.

"Excited for the win today, especially with the two freshmen getting their first wins as Lions this season," said head coach Tom Lloyd. "We faced a very tough team in UC Davis who fought very hard to the end, and we are excited we were able to pull out the W today,"
