Lions Return Home Monday for First Gersten Pavilion Game in 37 Days

LOS ANGELES – LMU men's basketball's long-awaited return home will be played Monday as the Lions take on Portland in a game that was rescheduled from the opening week of the conference seasons. The Lions and Pilots will be at 4:00 PM on Jan. 17th, with the broadcast airing on the WCC Network and across radio waves on KXLU 88.9.

LMU and Portland were originally scheduled to play at Gersten Pavilion on January 6th, but moved the game to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day following health and safety protocols. The Lions and Pilots only met once last season as well, so this will be Coach Stan Johnson's first home game against Portland.

In last season's matchup, LMU put together their most complete WCC game of the year, beating Portland by 25 points on the road. LMU shot 54.9 percent from the floor and 52.0 percent from three in the win. The Lions were lifted by a season-high 43 points off the bench.

LMU enters the game with a six-game winning streak over the Pilots dating back to 2018. Four of the games in that stretch have been double-digit wins for the Lions.

Portland is coming off a road win in conference play for the first time since the 2018 season. The Pilots knocked off Pepperdine, 82-63, on Saturday night in Malibu behind 22 points apiece from Chris Austin and Moses Wood.

Tickets to the game are available at LMULions.com or through the AXS website and app.
