LYNCHBURG, VA – LMU women's volleyball opened the weekend at Liberty's Tournament with a 3-0 win over Old Dominion. The Lions (5-1) topped the Monarchs (3-5), 25-18, 25-21, 25-20.

LMU took an early lead in the opening set, scoring four straight points to take a 11-5 lead, highlighted by an ace and a kill by
Emmelyn Walters. The Lions maintained that lead and closed out the set with an 25-18 win. LMU hit .333 in the set, the best of the day.

Trailing in the second set both 14-8 and 16-10, LMU put together a comeback to take the set. Reigning WCC Player of the Week
Kari Geissberger started a run of four consecutive points to bring the Lions within one, 17-16. Geissberger finished with a match-best 18 kills, followed by 10 from teammate
Rose Booth. LMU finally broke ahead with six straight points and seven of the final eight points to take the set from the Monarchs.

LMU started ahead 8-4, but Old Dominion quickly erased the deficit and took a 9-8 lead. The set remained a one-point difference or tied up until LMU rattled off six straight points with
Isabella Bareford serving, pushing the Lions ahead 22-17. Bareford recorded 37 assists to lead the way. The Lions closed out the match on an ace served by
Mary Shroll.

LMU will close out the tournament with two games on Saturday, facing Navy at 1:00 PM PST and the hosts Liberty immediately following at 4:00 PM PST.
