LOS ANGELES – LMU Women's Soccer Head Coach
Jenny Bindon completed her coaching staff for the fall 2021 season, announcing the additions of
Erik Panzer and
Liam Delury. With the season only a few weeks away from beginning, both Panzer and Delury will join Bindon and Assistant Coach
Kevin Pineda training the team for the fall campaign.
Erik Panzer joined LMU in August 2021 from FC Arizona where he was the Assistant Coach for the WPSL team under Tara Koleski. He would assist Koleski in training session execution, technical development, match day tactics, and mental performance and well-being for the players.
Previously, Panzer has coached at the Grassroots and Academy level with Ole Football Academy in New Zealand. Ole is an elite development academy in NZ, with players progressing into professional teams across Europe and America, along with players gaining scholarships to universities here in the USA.
Since Panzer Graduated from Quinnipiac University (Connecticut) in 2016, where he was a member of the men's soccer team, he has played professionally and semi-professionally around the world in countries such as England, Sweden, New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
His playing opportunities, combined with his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and his numerous experiences within various organizations have molded him into the teacher and coach that he is today. This combination of on and off field skills brings great value to our Women's Soccer Program as the program continues to grow. He will be focusing on team culture along with player management and player development, especially around the mental performance and personal well-being of our athletes, assisting them in navigating their journey on and off the field, helping them towards peak performance in all aspects of their life. He will also work specifically with the defensive group on the team.
As a collegiate athlete, Panzer started over 70 matches as a center back for the Quinnipiac Bobcats competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), helping the team to three conference tournaments and one Division 1 NCAA tournament appearance in 2013.
Liam Delury joined LMU as a volunteer assistant coach in March 2021. Delury is also the current head coach of the Beach FC's 2009 & 2007 ECRL, and 2008 NPL Girls teams
Delury has been involved in soccer around the region for the past 6 years. He has served as the assistant director of coaching at Sand and Surf Soccer Club in South Bay where he also was a program director and the fundraiser coordinator.
Prior to this, Delury was an assistant coach at Marymount University (California) for the men's soccer team in 2016.
Delury brings a unique skillset to the team from his upbringing in Glasgow, Scotland. Having played semi-professionally in Scotland and Wales, Delury's game knowledge will see him working with position specific technical development of players along with video analysis. Delury also leads all our camps throughout the year.
Delury currently holds a USSF C license, and is pursuing his USSF B license.
LMU opens the season on Aug. 12 for an exhibition at Long Beach State University, before heading east to open the regular season. The Lions will play on Sullivan Field for the first time Aug. 29. Season tickets are now available for purchase at the link above.
