LOS ANGELES –The Loyola Marymount University softball team will play Saint Mary's College in a three-game series to close out its 2021 season this weekend at Smith Field.
The Lions will head into this weekend's games coming off of an exciting and once-in-a-lifetime exhibition against Team USA, where the team was able to play against Olympic Athletes, and head coach
Tairia Flowers was able to be on the field with both of her teams.
Prior to taking on Team USA, the Lions went 1-2 against the BYU Cougars, the only series the team has dropped all season. The Lions are 20-20 on season and 8-4 in West Coast Conference play.
Molly Grumbo is No. 4 in the conference in overall hitting with .258 and No. 1 in fielding, with .986.
Marina Vitalich is No. 2 in the conference in ERA with 2.17.
The last time the Lions played Saint Mary's, LMU swept the Gaels 3-0 in 2019. The Lions' second game against the Gaels went to 15 innings, the longest game in program history.
The Lions will honor their seniors on Saturday before the first game. Lion seniors include,

Marina Vitalich,
Molly Grumbo,
Desiree Moreno and
Megan Martin.
The first game of the series will start on Friday at 2:00 PM at Smith Field. The Lions will then play the second two games in a double-header on Saturday, starting at 12:00 pm.
