Elliott Steps Away Following Nine Seasons at LMU

Elliott Statement

LOS ANGELES – On Monday morning, April 5, Charity Elliott informed the athletic department that she will be stepping away from her role as the head coach of the women's basketball program. In nine seasons leading the Lions, Elliott won 105 games and returned the team to the WNIT in the 2018-19 season.

"Charity informed me of her intention to step away from the team," said Athletic Director Craig Pintens. "It was clearly a very difficult decision and although surprising, we fully support Charity and want what is best for her. We are thankful for her unwavering dedication to LMU and wish Charity and her husband Chris the very best in their next chapter."

Elliott's 105 wins is second-most all-time in program history as she became only the second LMU head coach to surpass 100 wins when she hit the milestone defeating Santa Clara on the road this past January.  Elliott has 277 wins total as a Head Coach, having previously served as head coach at Cal Baptist, Portland State and UC-San Diego during nineteen seasons.

"It's been such an honor to coach and lead the LMU Women's Basketball Program for the past nine years, said Elliott. "I'm very proud of the progress we accomplished and look forward to the memories of this adventure staying with me forever. At this time, I've decided to step away from my role as head coach of the LMU Women's Basketball Program. I will be forever grateful to every player and coach that was a part of this LMU journey with me, including the outstanding administration."

The search for LMU's next women's basketball head coach will begin immediately.
