LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University will host one of its biggest series of the season this weekend, as the Lions welcome the BYU Cougars this Friday and Saturday for a three-game matchup.
The Lions head into this weekend leading the West Coast Conference in conference earned run average, with 0.80, right ahead of the Cougars, who have a 1.75 ERA.
Marina Vitalich is fourth in the conference with a 2.07 ERA, while third in the conference with wins with seven.
LMU will head into this weekend coming off of a 2-1 weekend against Pacific, where the Lions beat the Tigers 4-1 and had a 9-0 shutout, giving them a 7-2 conference record, landing them second in the conference, right behind BYU with a 6-0 record.
The Cougars will be coming into this weekend's series coming off of a loss against Utah Valley University. The last time the two teams met was in 2019, where the Cougars took the series 2-1.
The Lions will be using Friday's game as their Pink Game, where the team will be wearing pink jersey tops on honor of breast cancer awareness.
The first game will start on Friday at 2:00 PM PST. The teams will be back on Smith field on Saturday at noon and 2:30 PM for a double header.
