Box Score STOCKTON, Calif., -- The Loyola Marymount University softball team picked up its third conference series win of the season this weekend, as the Lions closed out their series against Pacific with a 6-0 shutout, their seventh shutout of the season.
The Lions dominated from the first inning, as
Taylor Keinath scored after
Andrea Gonzalez doubled, to take a 1-0 lead. LMU then extended its lead in the top of the third, when Keinath hit her first homerun of the season.
Up 2-0, the Tigers were not able to respond. The Lions then closed out the top of the seventh on a strong note, adding four more runs to the board. With Keinath and
Allisha Martinez on base,
Molly Grumbo doubled to send Martinez home.
With bases loaded, after a walk from
Andrea Gonzalez,
Megan Dedrick doubled down the line, to send Grumbo and Keinath home, taking a 5-0 lead. The Lions did not stop there, as Gonzalez scored the last run after DeBord reached on a fielding error.
Pacific was not able to answer back, giving the Lions a 6-0 shutout win.
LMU had six total hits, compared to Pacific's eight. Dedrick went 2-4 at the plate, while Keinath went 1-2.
Alyssa Daniell and
Megan Martin led in putouts with five each.
Alessandra Samperio pitched 3.1 innings and allowed four hits and zero runs.
Marina Vitalich pitched 3.2 innings, allowed four hits, zero runs and had three strikeouts.
The Lions will be back home next weekend to host BYU.
