LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University softball team (17-17) swept the University of San Diego this weekend, as the team closed out their third game of the series with a. 2-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon at Smith Field. 
 
The game started off quietly, as there were no runs put on the board until the Lions made the first move in the bottom of the fourth inning. Molly Grumbo singled, and then stole second and then third. She was able to make it home on a throwing error by the catcher, to get the Lions on the board first. 
 
Up 1-0, the Lions didn't put another run on the board until the bottom of the sixth. Morgan DeBord singled up the middle and then advanced to second when Megan Dedrick grounded out. DeBord advanced to third on a wild pitch, and then ran home when Peyton Angulo reached on a fielding error. 
 
The Toreros weren't able to battle back, giving the Lions their first conference sweep of the season. 
 
The Lions had five total hits, compared to the Toreros three. Alyssa Daniell and Grumbo both went 1-2 at the plate. Grumbo and Desiree Moreno led in putouts with six each. 
 
Marina Vitalich earned her 10^th win of the season, as she pitched a complete game, allowed only three hits and zero runs. She struck out five Toreros. 
 
The Lions will hit the road next week to take on Pacific in Stockton, Calif.
