LOS ANGELES – The No. 13 Loyola Marymount University Lions (4-0-1, 3-0-1 WCC) host their second to last home game of the 2021 season when the Pacific Tigers pay a visit to Sullivan Field for a clash of West Coast Conference foes on Saturday afternoon.
LMU will look for their second straight result against the Tigers having beaten them last season 2-1 in overtime.
The Lions will be looking for their fourth result in WCC play and to extend their unbeaten streak to six games on the year.
LMU continues to be relentless on the offensive end of the pitch, ranking in the top 10 nationally and leading the WCC in shots per game and shots on goal per game. The Lions 16.40 shots per game is sixth in the country while their 7.60 shots on goal per game is third in the nation.
The duo of
Steven Anderson and
Ronaldo Brown have led the Lions in both those categories and will look to add to those totals on Saturday afternoon. Anderson leads the WCC in shots on goal per game at 1.60 while Brown is the pace setter in the conference in shots per game at 4.00.
The Lions haven't just been getting contributions from Anderson and Brown as LMU has goals from
Noel Caliskan,
Duhaney Williams,
Gerardo Lopez, and
Alex Liu. Liu's goal last weekend turned out to be the eventual game-winner in a 1-0 win over San Diego.
In addition to the Lions offensive success their defense continues to shine in 2021. Goalkeeper
Jacob Jackson posted his fourth clean sheet and is first in the WCC and fourteenth nationally in shutouts. Jackson also paces the conference in goals against average at 0.191 which is seventh in the country.
The Lions and Tigers will kickoff at 1:00 p.m. at Sullivan on Saturday, March 27th
