LOS ANGELES- The Loyola Marymount University volleyball team swept Santa Clara 3-0 in its last match of the season, sweeping the Broncos in their two-game series.

"I'm proud of our team for sticking with it all year and finishing the season with two wins," said head coach
Aaron Mansfield. "Our players have shown so much resiliency and commitment to this program over the past year, it's inspiring to be a part of it. We have a ton of room for growth and I'm excited to continue exploring how good we can get individually and collectively as a group."
The Lions opened up set one to a slow start, as the Broncos went on an 8-1 run to open the match. LMU was able to tie things up at 17-17, and then took the lead. The Lions closed out set one with a 25-22 win.
Up 1-0, LMU put the first point on the board in set two. Santa Clara then took the lead, but LMU answered back, tying things up at 11-11 and took the lead back. The teams tied things up five times, but LMU came out with the second set win, 25-20.
Santa Clara opened up set three to a strong start, but the Lions tied things up nine times. Tied at 23-23, the Lions scored two points to take set three and win the match.
Kari Geissberger led the team in kills with. 14, while
Audrey Klemp had 12.
Ella Boehle led the team in digs with eight. Boehle and Bareford booth had one service ace a piece.
Rose Booth had two block solos and one block assist, while
Sierra Bartley had three block assists.
The Lions' sweep concluded their 2021 season. The team ended with a 7-9 record. Their last two matches of the season have been cancelled due to not enough players in the Pacific program.
