SPOKANE, Wash., -- The Loyola Marymount University women's basketball team completed its final road trip of the regular season on Saturday, as the team took on the No. 21 Gonzaga Bulldogs in Spokane, Wash. The Lions fell to the Bulldogs 77-39.
The Lions played a tight first quarter, as the team kept the score within one-two possessions. The Lions closed out the first down 14-12. The Bulldogs made a run in the second quarter, outscoring the Lions and ending the half ahead 32-15.
The Lions had another slow third quarter, as the Bulldogs extended their lead. The Lions left the third down 57-20. Gonzaga continued its momentum, closing out their last regular game of the season with a 77-39 win, giving the Bulldogs the WCC Regular Season Championship title.
Ariel Johnson led the team in points with 11, while
Nicole Rodriguez and
Jasmine Jones had eight a piece. Johnson also led the team in rebounds with five. Mandel led the team in blocks with one, while Rodriguez led in steals with four.
The Lions will head to Las Vegas next week for the WCC Championships.
