LOS ANGLES – The Loyola Marymount University women's basketball team will take its final regular season road trip of the season this week, as the team is set to take on University of Portland and No. 21 Gonzaga.
The Lions head into this weekend's matches coming off of a loss to Saint Mary's and a loss to Pacific. In LMU's game against Pacific, the team scored 32 points in just the third quarter to tie things up, but fell 73-69.
The Lions currently lead the WCC in blocked shots, averaging 5.00 per game.
Meghan Mandel is second in the conference in blocked shots, averaging 2.52 per game, while
Khari Clark is third in the conference with 1.14 per game.
Chelsey Gipson is No. 5 in the conference in three-pointers made, averaging 1.76 per game, and is seventh in steals, averaging 1.82 per game.
Ariel Johnson is No. 8 in the conference in scoring with an average of 13.61 per game and No. 5 in steals with 2.06 per game.
The Lions met with the Pilots earlier this season in Gersten Pavilion. The team pushed the Pilots to the end, but lost 58-53. The Pilots are on a four-game losing streak and are 10-11 on the season. The last win the Pilots had was a 69-67 win against Pacific.
The team will tip-off at 5:00 PM PST in Portland Ore. The. Lions will then head to Spokane to take on No. 21 Gonzaga.
