LOS ANGELES - The Loyola Marymount University softball team is set to hit the road for the first time this season and play the No. 1 UCLA Bruins on Sunday February 21st at 11am and 1:30 PM. 
 
The Lions faced Cal State Fullerton in their last two games. In their first game against CSUF, 
Peyton Angulo homered to right field at the bottom of the 7th with an RBI. This brought the score to 7-5, CSUF winning. In their second game Junior, 
Molly Grumbo, hit a homerun for the Lions at the bottom of the 5th putting points on the board and bringing the score up  2-3. The game concluded with a loss for the Lions 5-2. 
 
The Lions record is currently 3-3 overall going into their next game. 
 
The 2019 World Series Championship UCLA team has competed 3-0 this season, most recetnely defeating Cal State Fullerton.  
 
The Lions were not able to compete against UCLA last season because of Covid-19 cancellations. However, in 2019 the Lions faced them in the UCLA Tournament. Defeated by only two points to the defending champions that year. 
 
The Lions were built up of a younger team in 2019, with more experience on the 2021 team their season will be an exciting one to watch as they face multiple ranked teams. Players to look out for include 
Molly Grumbo at catcher, 
Andrea Gonzalez at 3rd base, and 
Linnay Wilson at pitcher. 
 
First pitch will be at 11:00 AM at UCLA, with the second game scheduled to start at 1:30 PM.
