LOS ANGELES – After a month that featured one road trip to a neutral site court, LMU men's basketball will play their first true road game of the season on Saturday. The Lions travel south to face Long Beach State at the Pyramid for a 4:00 PM game on ESPN+.
December features a very road heavy schedule as LMU will play four of the five scheduled games on opponent's home courts. The final three away contests are all out of state leading into conference play on January 1.
Last season, LMU four of the team's final five true road games, with the only loss coming to the top-ranked team in the country, Gonzaga. During LMU's six conference road games in 2020-21,
Eli Scott averaged 18.8 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.
This will be the second time in exactly a year that these two teams will face each other. In the last meeting between LMU and Long Beach State, played on Dec. 4 of 2020, the Lions won by 24 points at home in the first game in the series played since 2013.
In that win,
Joe Quintana led all scorers with 20 points and hit six of LMU's 15 three pointers. The Lions won the game from wire-to-wire as
Dameane Douglas opened the game with a triple and LMU never surrendered that lead. In total, four Lions hit double-figures in the win.
In addition to the ESPN+ feed, Jesse Kass and Jonathan Grace will have the call for KXLU 88.9.
