LOS ANGELES – Entering the game with five consecutive wins over the Pilots, LMU men's basketball looks to earn the team's first win away from home on Monday afternoon. The Lions (7-6, 2-3 WCC) can even their conference record as they start the week off facing the Pilots (6-9, 0-6 WCC) for a 2:00 pm match.
Portland, who does hold a winning record at home with a 5-4 mark at the Chiles Center, has lost seven-straight since Christmas. The Lions are looking to pick up their first road win in the
Stan Johnson era.
The Pilots enter the game leading the conference in free throws made, and rank fifth in the nation statistically in the category. The Lions, on the defensive side of the ball, commit the most fouls per game in the WCC, which could be a factor in the game.
LMU is also 7-0 when shooting a better field goal percentage than their opponents. Portland enters the game allowing teams to shoot 48.2 percent from the field, which is last in the WCC. The Pilots are allowing teams to score over 81 points per game, which also ranks last in the conference.
Another interesting comparison is Portland's ability to force turnovers with LMU's high giveaway marks. The Pilots force a conference-best 15.33 turnovers per game, whereas LMU commits the most turnovers in the league at 17.1 per game.
The two teams have yet to meet this year as this is a rescheduled game due to the Jan. 7 postponement.
The game will be available to stream on the WCC Network. As always, the game will be available to the radio audience on KXLU 88.9 FM.
