LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount softball team (8-7) will head to Fullerton, Calif. this week to participate in the Judi Garman Classic, where the Lions will take on no. 4 Louisiana State University, No. 13 University of Michigan, Cal Poly, Boise State, Fresno State and Colorado State.
This will be LMU's third road tournament of the season, and the team's second time playing at Cal State Fullerton. The Lions will head into the Judi Garman Classic coming off of a 3-1 weekend at the LMU Tournament, where the Lions hosted three teams including, Sacramento State, Quinnipiac University and University of Delaware, picking up wins over all three.
Molly Grumbo is currently leading the Lions, as well as the West Coast Conference in batting average, with .521, totaling 25 hits this season.
Andrea Gonzalez is leading the team and conference in homeruns with four, while Grumbo is second in the conference with three.
Last season, the Lions went 2-2 at the Judi Garman Classic, as the team beat New Mexico and CSUN, and fell to Auburn and Fresno State. This will be the second consecutive year the Lions will meet with Cal Poly, Boise State and Fresno State.
The Lions will kick off the tournament Thursday morning against No. 4 LSU at 9:30 and will pick back up on Friday to take on No. 13 Michigan. The Lions will play Cal Poly and Boise State on Saturday, and will then play Colorado State and Fresno State on Sunday.
