Lions and Broncos Match Up for Only Time This Season

LOS ANGELES - LMU men's basketball (8-17, 2-9 WCC) opens a season-long three-game true road swing this weekend with the team's only game against Santa Clara (18-7, 5-5 WCC). The game is scheduled to tip at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions are looking to end a five-game slide, while the Broncos have lost two straight. The Lions have won three-straight games over Santa Clara, including the last two in Leavey Center. The Broncos will not play at Gersten Pavilion this season due to the West Coast Conference's 16-game schedule.

Both teams are two of the five WCC programs ranked in the top 35 in the nation in field goal percentage this season. LMU ranks 31st in the country after shooting 46.9 percent from the field this year and Santa Clara ranks 34th in the night at a mark of 46.7 percent.

LMU will need to control the ball, as the Broncos lead the conference with 14.92 forced per game.

In last Thursday's game against BYU, LMU junior Eli Scott scored 18 points to reach 1,001 career points in his three seasons. Scott joins LMU Hall-of-Famer Anthony Ireland as the only two players in program history with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 250 assists in their careers. Among Division I players, 34 have hit that mark and Scott is one of five juniors in the list.

The game will air regionally on NBC Sports Bay Area, Root Sports Northwest, and AT&T Sports Rocky Mountain. For viewers outside of those television markets, the game will stream live on the WCC Network digitally. Live Stats will be run through Statbroadcast. Jesse Kass can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM and TuneIN Radio.

LMU will be on the road Saturday at Santa Clara to open a three-game road swing.
