LOS ANGELES – Since its establishment in 1986, the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame has served to inspire and educate students, faculty, staff, and alumni by honoring the outstanding student-athletes and teams of the past. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, LMU Athletics will postpone the induction of its 19
th class from winter of 2020-2021 to the following year.
"It is disappointing that we will be unable to celebrate the accomplishments of the very best in LMU Athletics history," said Athletic Director
Craig Pintens. "We believe it is an honor that should be bestowed in-person. When it is safe to do this again, we will resume our cycle of honoring a class every two years."
The Hall of Fame includes representatives from a wide range of past and present university sports dating back to the 1920s. Those honored in the Hall of Fame have achieved outstanding success in their athletic career at LMU and reflect the values and philosophy of Loyola Marymount University.
The
most recent class was inducted on Feb. 16, 2019, and included baseball coach Dave Snow, men's basketball's Anthony Ireland, softball's Sam Fischer, women's volleyball's Emily Day, benefactor's Mike and Patty Smith, and the 2002 WCC Championship Women's Tennis Team.
The LMU Athletics Hall of Fame includes 141 members that date back over 90 years. For more information about the LMU Athletics Hall of Fame, visit:
