Nation’s #1 Team Comes to the Bluff for Saturday’s Televised Day Game

LOS ANGELES - LMU's toughest test to date is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday at Hank's House. For the second time this season, the LMU men's basketball team (7-9, 1-1 WCC) will play a ranked opponent, as #1 Gonzaga (17-1, 3-0 WCC) comes to Gersten Pavilion for televised game that will air on six regional networks across the country as well as the WCC Network for those out of market.

In LMU's other matchup against a ranked team this season, the Lions were tied with then-#20 Colorado with less than three minutes remaining in the game before the Buffs pulled away in front of their home crowd.

Now, with Gonzaga coming to the Bluff with the #1 ranking for the second time in four seasons, the Lions have a major test afoot. LMU is looking to snap a 21-game losing streak to the Zags that dates back to the upset win on Feb. 18, 2010 when the Lions beat the 9th-ranked Bulldogs, 74-66.

The featured matchup will be between two of the best players in the WCC. Eli Scott ranks first in the West Coast Conference shooting 55.3 percent from the field. Ranking third in the conference is Gonzaga's Filip Petrusev at 55.0 percent. The WCC has five teams ranked in the top-30 in team field goal percent including Gonzaga and LMU at fourth and 29th nationally, respectfully.

LMU did not play on Thursday, after splitting their first week of conference games. The Lions beat San Diego at home to win on the first night of WCC Action.

The game will air on Spectrum SportsNet, ROOT Sports Northwest, NBC Sports California, AT&T SportsNet Rocky Mountain, AT&T SportsNet Southwest, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh, and stream on WCC Network out-of-market. Live Stats will be run through Statbroadcast. Jesse Kass can be heard on KXLU 88.9 FM and TuneIN Radio.
