LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University volleyball team will take its second road trip of the season to participate in the Rice University Tournament in Houston, TX, where the team will take on Rice and Abilene Christian University. 
 
The Lions head to Houston coming off of a 2-1 weekend at the Cactus Cup in Tucson, Ariz., where the Lions beat Samford University 3-2, Appalachian State 3-1 and fell to Arizona 3-0. 
 
Freshmen Mary Shroll and Rose Booth were named to the All-Tournament team. Shroll had 23 assists and had three services aces. Booth led the team in kills over the weekend, tallying up 48 across the three matches. 
 
The Lions haven't taken on Rice University since 2004, where LMU lost 3-0, giving the team a 2-1 record against the Owls. This will be the first time in program history that the Lions have taken on Abilene Christian. 
 
LMU will be taking on an undefeated Rice team, and a  0-3 Abilene Christian. The Lions will play their first match at 10:00 AM on Friday against Rice, and will then take on ACU at 5:00 PM. LMU will pick back up play on Saturday to take on Rice a second time at 10:00 AM.
