LOS ANGELES – With team's across the country opening their gyms on Tuesday for the first official day of college basketball practice, LMU has also announced that the first game will be played six weeks from today. Head Coach
Mike Dunlap and LMU Athletics have announced the team's 14-game non-conference schedule that includes Colorado State at Gersten Pavilion, a trip to the Pac-12's Colorado, and the matchups for the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas.
Opening night will be played at home on Nov. 5 against a Westcliff team that LMU beat by 32 points to begin the 22-win season from a year ago. Also similar to the 2018-19 campaign, LMU will travel to The Silver State for an early-season road test, this time playing at Nevada on Nov. 9.
As part of a doubleheader with women's basketball, LMU will play Colorado State on Nov. 16. This will be the first matchup between the two programs since Brandon Brown's game-winning three pointer knocked off the Rams in Fort Collins back in December of 2016.
Entering the season as the reigning Jamaica Classic champions, the Lions will play in another island tournament this time around. Air Force, Indiana State, and Duquesne are the three opponents that the team will face in Bimini, Bahamas from Nov. 21-24 for the 2019 Junkanoo Jam.
Southern Utah comes to the Bluff to open December's portion of the schedule for a 1 p.m. Sunday game on Dec. 1, before the Lions are back on the road playing the Buffaloes in Boulder on Dec. 4. The game at Colorado will air on the Pac-12 Networks.
Five of the final six non-conference games will be played in Los Angeles as LMU faces Grambling (Dec. 7) and Prairie-View A&M (Dec. 7) before heading north to face UC Davis on Dec. 16.
The Lions will open a season-long four game home stretch with Portland State on Dec. 19, Cal State Fullerton on Dec. 22, and Morgan State on Dec. 28, before San Diego breaks in the new year for WCC play.
The
full league schedule was released in August by the West Coast Conference.
Remaining game times and broadcasts will be announced at a later date. Season tickets are now available.
Season ticket holders for the 2019-20 men's basketball season will
receive a set of three bobbleheads, one of Hank Gathers, Bo Kimble, and Jeff Fryer per season ticket. Mini plan buyers for the season will receive their choice of either one Gathers, Kimble, or Fryer bobblehead per account.
