LOS ANGELES – The Loyola Marymount University volleyball team (4-5) will be taking its last non-conference road trip of the season this weekend, as the team will head to Indianapolis, Ind. To participate in the Butler Tournament.
The Lions will be coming off of a 1-2 weekend from the Nebraska Tournament, where the team fell to Denver 3-2, beat High Point University 3-0 and fell to No. 2 Nebraska 3-1.
Savannah Slattery was named to the All-Tournament Team for the second time this season. The senior tallied 50 kills and put up 21 points against Nebraska.
Freshman
Rose Booth leads the team in kills with 138 on the season, while
Tess Reid leads the team in assists with 331.
The Lions will play their first match against Belmont University at 1:00 PM. The team will pick back up play on Saturday to take on No. 19 Illinois at 7:00 AM, and will conclude the tournament against Butler University at 4:00 PM.
This will be the first time the Lions have taken on both Butler and Belmont. Butler is currently 2-7 on the season, while the Bruins are 1-11. The Lions last took on Illinois in 1987, where LMU lost 3-0.
This will be the last stretch of non-conference matches for the Lions.
