The Loyola Marymount University men's soccer team (2-1) will close out its season long five-game home stand when Sacramento State and UC Davis pay a visit to Sullivan Field over the weekend. The Lions, currently on a two-game winning streak, will host the Hornets on Friday, Sept. 13
th followed by the Aggies who come to town on Sunday, Sept. 15
th.
One of the reasons for LMU's early season success can be attributed to their aggressiveness on the offensive end as they currently rank 21
st in the country in both shots per game at 16.00 and shots on goal per game at 7.00. The constant pressure the Lions put on their opponent's goalies is a trend that head coach
Paul Krumpe will look to continue this weekend.
The duo of
Bastien Oberli and
Francis Avoce have provided the Lions a pair of goal scorers who's threats on opponent's goalies are just a few of the reasons LMU has gotten off to a hot start. Oberli is 42
nd in the country in shot accuracy at 3.00 followed by Avoce who's shots per game average of 3.00 places him at 65
th in the country.
LMU's defense and goalkeeper play is also another reason for the fast start. The Lions
Jacob Jackson is one of 11 goalies tied for both first in the country in goals against average and save percentage.
Heading into the weekend the Lions are 2-2 against the Hornets over their last four games and have split the last two games with UC Davis.
