LOS ANGELES – Making another step forward as a senior administrator,
Ashley Armstrong has been named LMU's first Deputy Athletic Director. Armstrong will begin her new position on Aug. 5, according to Athletic Director
Craig Pintens.

She believes strongly in providing the best possible student-athlete experience and has worked with some of the most successful national championship programs in college athletics. She is an intelligent problem-solver that develops meaningful relationships who will thrive at LMU."
In the newly created role, Armstrong will serve as Chief Operating Officer of the Department and Senior Woman Administrator. She will represent LMU Athletics on the WCC Executive Counsel and as serve as a member of the senior staff. Her responsibilities include oversight of multiple sport programs including women's basketball, indoor and beach volleyball, softball, cross country, and track and field, as well as oversight of student-athlete success areas such as academics, life skills, mental health, training and strength and conditioning. Armstrong will assist in the oversight of marketing, communications, ticketing, and multimedia rights for Athletics.

Ashley Armstrong joined the UCLA Athletic Department staff in 2004 and most recently served as an Associate Athletic Director, Sports and Administration. As a member of the sport supervision team, she had direct oversight of the men's and women's volleyball, women's beach volleyball, and men's and women's water polo programs. In addition, Ashley also oversaw the sports medicine department, student-athlete development programming and served as the liaison to the Title IX office on issues related to sexual violence. She served on the NCAA Division I Women's Rowing committee and the NCAA Men's Volleyball committee.
Armstrong previously served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development where she had oversight of the Bruin Student-Athlete Development program. Her broad range of responsibilities included creating the Wooden Academy (leadership development program), serving as an advisor to the Bruin Athletic Council, coordinating community outreach events, and professional development programs to prepare student-athletes for life after sport.
Prior to arriving at UCLA, Armstrong served as an Assistant Athletic Director at the University of Louisville where her responsibilities included administration, student-athlete development programming, marketing, championships and compliance. During her stint with the Cardinals, she assisted in developing curriculum for a life skills course and served as a lecturer for the College of Education. She started her career as an academic counselor and tutorial coordinator for the women's athletic department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Armstrong serves on the Advisory Board of the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission, and is a member of Women Leaders in College Sports. She served as a lead consultant for the NCAA from 2007 - 2013 where she was responsible for writing and developing curriculum, and training administrators and coaches to facilitate the annual NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum. She has presented on various leadership and student well-being issues at national and regional conferences. Armstrong is a 2009 graduate of the Sports Management Institute's executive program.
A native of southern California, Armstrong earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of California, Davis, where she was a member of the women's volleyball team. She earned a Master of Science in Human Performance and Sports Studies from the University of Tennessee.
