LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount University women's basketball head coach
Charity Elliott has announced on Friday that
Emily Ben-Jumbo has been promoted as assistant coach, while
Daisy Feder has been promoted to director of operations.
Ben-Jumbo, a Loyola Marymount University alumnus, came back to her alma mater in 2018 as the women's basketball director of operations. The alum graduated from LMU in 2015 and appeared in 119 games over her career, which is ranked in a tie for third most all-time in program history.
"I am so blessed God has given me an opportunity to make an impact on the floor again and another chance to help influence the team culture," said Ben-Jumbo. "I'll just be doing it without a jersey this time."
After graduating LMU, Ben-Jumbo earned her master's degree in business management and entrepreneurship from Durham University in England, while playing for the university's women's basketball team. She went on to play professionally in Luxembourg, Peru and Argentina, as well as become a NASM Certified Personal Trainer with specializations in performance enhancement and corrective exercises.
"I could not be more excited to announce the promotion of
Emily Ben-Jumbo to assistant coach," said Elliott. "Emily was a tremendous leader and captain for the Lions as a player and did an outstanding job last season as our Director of Basketball Operations. She is a terrific role model and will be a shining light in this profession."
Feder came to LMU as the program's graduate assistant in 2018, while pursuing a master's degree in education studies. A 2013 graduate of UC San Diego, Feder spent her first four years playing under Elliott and was name conference Player of the Year for 2012-13. Following her time at UCSD, Feder spent five seasons in Israel and led her team to winning the Israeli Cup in 2015-16.
"I'm happy to also announce the promotion of
Daisy Feder from our GA position to our Director of Basketball Operations. Daisy demonstrated as our GA the ability to connect with our student-athletes and to get the work done needed to run a program. We are so glad we could move her into a full-time position."
"As we begin this new semester, I'm so grateful to be surrounded by such a fantastic group of coaches and staff members. This group, including Dylan, our strength coach, Brian, our athletic trainer, and Sherilyn, our academic advisor, is a group of people committed to the growth and success of our student-athletes in every facet of their life. Each coach and staff member will have an enormous impact on our players and the success of this program and I'm thrilled to be in the trenches with them."
Ben-Jumbo, Feder and the rest of the Lion squad will kick off their 2019 season in November.
